The very first time I opened a bottle of Roman chamomile, I remember thinking the smell was heavenly. Somewhat sweet and almost fruity, it reminded me of apples—sheer and light enough to draw me in, but not overwhelming.
My first impression is the very essence of Roman chamomile’s power. Designed by nature to relieve us when we’re overwhelmed, it helps release stress of any kind, but it’s especially beneficial against tension that builds up in the solar plexus.
The solar plexus is the vital center of our psychological needs and wants, located, not coincidentally, halfway between our gut and our heart. Tension in this area usually fuses feelings of frustration, vexedness, and irritation. These feelings may drive us to be overcontrolling or push us to try harder, to a point where we lose control and then criticize ourselves for being childish and weak!
Roman chamomile can ease ego-driven tension, frustration, resentment, and depression. Its warm, fruity aroma gives a sense of satisfaction, while its gentle slight bitterness cools us down. It helps us let go of fixed expectations, and enables us to accept our limitations and feel more open to receiving help and support from others.
Overall, Roman chamomile gives us a sunnier disposition. The plant itself, with its big yellow center surrounded by beautiful white rays, is enough to make anyone smile.
